No investigation yet, but the House speaker expects questions to be answered.
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy responded to questions surrounding the questionable ethics of freshman Representative George Santos. Congressman Santos has admitted to fabricating much of his resume and was found to have misused large donations from dubious sources. A number of his colleagues have already submitted complaints about him to the House Ethics Committee.
“There’s no investigation, as the Ethics Committee hasn’t organized yet. But it has received complaints,” said a spokesman of McCarthy. Speaker McCarthy later affirmed that though an investigation has not begun, a future investigation is not off the table. “Ethics is moving through, and if Ethics finds something, we’ll take action,” Speaker McCarthy said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker McCarthy to proceed wisely with the ethics complaints against the freshman congressman.
- For those who serve on the House Ethics Committee as they review the complaints that have been submitted.
